I have been toying with the idea of starting a food blog for quite some time now. Food has always played a starring role in my life, as is obvious from my childhood brown-and-white stuffed rabbit named “Chocolate Marshmallow,” my dad’s nickname for me as a teenager: “Carbo Queen,” and my bourgeoning interest in cooking during graduate school. After the requisite 4 collegiate years of eating whatever was around and was affordable, I reverted back to the types of wholesome foods my parents raised me on. What with buzz phrases such as “light,” “heart-healthy,” “all-natural,” etc. splashed across numerous food products, it can be difficult to distinguish what exactly constitutes a healthful diet. To ensure that I’m eating whole foods, I buy products with as few ingredients, (and as minimally processed), as possible. Following this logic, I steer clear of products made with white flour, white sugar, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, and anything that I can’t pronounce! I also keep a bunch of fresh produce in the kitchen at all times, and purchase as much variety of organic food as I can afford. I’m excited to share my recipes, meals, and snacks with you, and invite you to do the same!
