I’m sure many of you are familiar with Nasoya’s relatively new product Silken Creations, if not from purchasing a carton yourself, then from seeing these delectable pudding-like treats splashed across various food blogs. After many fleeting, but curious, glances at these colorful packages at the grocery store, I found the incentive I needed to finally try them out. Where did the kick-in-the-butt come from you might ask? Lindsay’s review of the product line on her renowned blog Happy Herbivore.

I chose the Dark Chocolate flavor to sample first, and wanted to share with you some of the ways I’ve enjoyed this sweet, creamy, and absolutely delicious silken tofu!

On a spoon, straight from the carton:

As a luscious coating on fresh strawberries:

With whole wheat graham crackers and 1% cottage cheese for quick, healthy, and tasty deconstructed “chocolate cheesecake” bites:

As a mocha milkshake, blended with frozen banana slices, skim milk, and chilled brewed coffee:

Layered with plain greek yogurt and cereal (a perfect match is Barbara’s Bakery Crunchy Cocoa Wild Puffs and Peaunt Butter Puffins) for a sweet parfait:

As you can see, the dark chocolate silken tofu didn’t last long enough in our refrigerator to be used in an actual recipe; I kept coming back to the irresistible treat for easy-to-assemble snacks and desserts. Neither the taste nor texture of this product resembles tofu; it is honestly very similar to chocolate pudding.

Here is the nutrition information for the dark chocolate flavor:

SilkenCreationsChocolateNutChart

Ingredients: soymilk (water, whole soybeans), cane juice (dried), cocoa (processed with alkali), rice starch, natural flavors, salt.

The only thing now left to do is to try the strawberry and vanilla flavors! I plan to post recaps of how I put the other two varieties to use as well.
